Dilantha Fernando

Prof. Dilantha FernandoNORTH AMERICA

Dean, Professor and plant pathologist, University of Manitoba, Canada.

Professor Fernando is a Dean and Professor in Canada. He is a Plant Disease Epidemiologist who studies pathogen trajectories and movement into new regions and countries and how spread can be mitigated. Prof. Fernando is a world-renowned scientist on mitigating diseases of major field crops. Prof. Fernando’s lab uses cutting-edge technologies including gene-editing tools such as, CRISPR to understand how hosts and pathogens interact. Prof. Fernando has received numerous international, national and regional awards for excellence in teaching, research and service. He sits on numerous world bodies related to agricultural biotechnology. Prof. Fernando has trained 85 HQP, published over 200 research papers and is an Editor and Editor in Chief to six scientific journals. Professor Fernando is a Fellow of the APS.

Former Senior Adviser, World Health Organization, Geneva Switzerland

Former Senior Adviser, World Health Organization, Geneva Switzerland for 20 years-She was a former Professor of Medicine, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka and Visiting Professor University of Oxford and University of Nottingham. She is an expert in Global Health, Internal Medicine and Cardiology and is in the 2020 Stanford University List of World`s Top 2 per cent researchers. She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London and Edinburgh and a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology and was awarded Vidya Jothi in 2005. She is a founder Members of the Geneva Learning Foundation, Geneva Switzerland.

Professor of Medical Education and Vice Dean, Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health, University of Manchester, UK 

Professor Nirmalan is a Professor of Medical Education and Vice Dean, Faculty of Biology Medicine and Health, University of Manchester, UK. He is also a Hon. Professor in Critical care medicine, University of Cairo, Egypt and Hon. Professor in Post-conflict studies, University of Gulu Uganda. Prof. Nirmalan also serves as Consultant in Intensive care medicine, Manchester Royal Infirmary, UK. Currently he engages in an active research program funded by the Medical Research Council, UK and the Global Challenges Research Fund, UK in Uganda and Kenya in subjects related to: Low-cost service delivery models for addressing post conflict major limb loss and Effectiveness of public health bundles in preventing acute viral pandemics in Informal settlements in Africa.

Professor of Global Biosecurity & NHMRC Principal Research Fellow

Professor Raina MacIntyre (MBBS Hons 1, M App Epid, PhD, FRACP, FAFPHM) is Professor of Global Biosecurity, NHMRC Principal Research Fellow and Head of the Biosecurity Program at the Kirby Institute, UNSW, Australia. She leads a research program in control and prevention of infectious diseases, spanning pandemics and emerging infections, epidemiology, vaccinology, biosecurity, risk analysis, personal protective equipment, mathematical modelling, public health and clinical trials. She has over 390 peer reviewed publications. She has received many awards including the Sir Henry Wellcome Medal and Prize from the Association of Military Surgeons of the US, the Public Health Association of Australia’s National Immunization Award, and the Frank Fenner Award for Research in Infectious Diseases.
